Francesco Trapani

Chairman and CIO

Over 30 year track record in driving shareholders value.
CEO of Bulgari from 1984 to 2013. Led the IPO in 1995. Orchestrated the sale of the company to LVMH for €4.3bn in 2011. During this period, Bulgari revenues grew from €25m to €1.3bn and over €600m were distributed to shareholders. Mr Trapani delivered a total shareholder return of 17% per year from IPO in 1995 to sale to LVMH in 2011. At LVMH for 5 years (2011-16). Led the Jewellery & Watches division until 2014, managing 8 brands, over 600 stores, 18 manufacturing facilities, 8,000 employees, and increasing revenues by 15% to about €3bn. In the 2014-16 period continued as a board member and acted as Senior Advisor to Mr. Arnault.
Vice Chairman and then Chairman of Clessidra, Italy’s largest private equity fund, from 2014 to 2016.
Since 2016 Vice Chairman of Tages, focused on NPLs servicing, management, infrastructure funds and other structured products Shareholder of Tiffany, transaction executed with Bluebell Partners. Appointed to the BoD in March 2017.

Giuseppe Bivona

Partner and CIO

Co-founder of Bluebell Partners, a co-investor and advisory firm involved in large activist campaigns and the predecessor company to Bluebell Capital Partners.
Before Bluebell Partners Giuseppe worked for 18 years with the investment banks Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Lehman Brothers in London. Prior to that, Giuseppe worked at McKinsey in Milan and IBM.
In his last position at Goldman Sachs, he was responsible for Fixed Income Sales in Italy, with direct responsibility for financial institutions coverage and structured business across clients. At Morgan Stanley, Giuseppe headed the European Sovereign Liability Management Team and afterward the Global Capital Market Team, with responsibility for Italian financial institutions on debt and equity capital market products. At Lehman Brothers, Giuseppe headed the Capital Market and Structured Solution Group for Italy, focussing on financial institutions.
Giuseppe has extensive experience in structuring and executing balance sheet restructurings, complex derivatives transactions and has advised major Italian banks and insurance companies on regulatory capital relief solutions.
Giuseppe holds a university degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Marco Taricco

Partner and CIO

Co-founder of Bluebell Partners, a co-investor and advisory firm involved in large activist campaigns and the predecessor company to Bluebell Capital Partners.
Before Bluebell Partners Marco accumulated 23 years' experience with the investment banks Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan, where he held several senior positions in New York, London and Milan. In his last position he was responsible for JP Morgan’s Italian Investment Banking Advisory and Coverage of corporate clients. Marco also held a senior position in Morgan Stanley’s PWM business.
Marco has been involved in major M&A and capital markets transactions across the US and Europe, and across most industry sectors. Selected examples include the privatisation of Telecom Italia, the IPOs  of Mediaset, Gucci, Bulgari and Ferragamo, and large re-financings such as Snam.
In 2007 Marco successfully launched Network Capital Partners, a PE fund of funds and co-investment vehicle which raised $150m and delivered returns in line with top quartile peers. He also co-founded ePlanet, a TLC company which went public in 2000 with a post-money market capitalization of €600m.
Marco holds a university degree in Business Administration from Turin University, an MBA from Columbia Business School and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

David Calvo Platero

Portfolio Manager and Partner

18 years of experience as a financial professional, joined Bluebell Capital Partners at inception from Bluebell Partners.
Before joining Bluebell Partners in 2016, David worked for 10 years with investment banks Lehman Brothers and Nomura in London. Prior to that, David worked for four years as an equity research analyst at Intermonte in Milan.
David has worked on several transactions in Europe, including M&A, debt restructurings, LBO financings, high yield financings and IPOs. His focus was mostly on private equity firms and in the media sector.
David holds a university degree in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan and an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business.

Nicolas Ceron

Portfolio Manager

Nicolas has 13 years experience as a financial professional covering the consumer sector. He joined Bluebell Capital Partners in October 2019.
Previously Nicolas was a portfolio manager at Norges Bank Investment Management for 4 years, managing a long only portfolio with a global consumer benchmark. He was responsible for idea generation, investment decisions, risk monitoring and FX hedging. He was also highly involved in corporate governance decisions and board interactions for a number of companies.
Before that he spent 9 years as a sell side equity research analyst at Société Générale, Barclays and Numis covering the consumer sector.

Matthew Low

Chief Operating Officer

25+ years experience in investment management operations.
Before joining Bluebell Capital Partners in early 2019, Matthew independently ran operations at RWC from 2007 till 2018. Throughout the period RWC opened three offices and quadrupled personnel to support asset growth from $2 – $16 billion.
Member of the firms’ management committee and central to the organisation’s innovation, planning and execution.
Matthew has worked extensively with multiple fund infrastructure and strategy types, fund restructuring and has been an UCITS Fund Director.
Matthew has a wide network of industry peers, service / technology providers and has managed strategic projects including those regulatory focussed.

Pete Papanichola

Trading and Risk

Experience accumulated over 21 years, working in the Investment Banking and Hedge Fund Industry in Europe and Asia.
Pete has previously overseen trading at P-Squared AG, Centaurus Capital, Perry Capital Europe and was a Senior Trader at Elliott Advisors.
Experienced in directional and spread trading in assets across the capital structure, macro markets and commodity markets.
Pete holds a degree in Management from Cass Business School in London.

Sascha Safai

Head of Marketing

15 years of marketing and business development experience, gained at blue chip organisations such as Henderson Global Investors, GLG Partners, MAN Group and Engadine Partners.
Worked in both large established multibillion funds and new initiatives across various asset classes, building a strong network of hedge fund investors across geographies.
